Blah

Just fuckin'... Blah.

I had all this shit to write when I was wandering around Wellington this morning that was quite profound, but it's all left my head now and stuff kinda sucks. So... I'll write what I see on this cup instead:

The Way I see it #63

Our lives are inspired by the dreams we have from the earliest stages of our youth. When you combine passion and hard work, then succes is always possible. While no read is ever straight, dedication and persistence will always lead you to your dreams.

Kinda sounds like a load, doesn't it.

Wow

We've all seen the Super Mario 3 Time Attack, where Mario 3 is beaten in 11 mins.

But have you seen Mario 64 beaten in 16?

By bathtub, I mean pool... and by swimming.. I mean SEX!!!

Homeward bound this weekend. Probably coming home on Saturday in the Late afternoon. Last (hopefully) meeting with a certain govt. agency on monday.

Squash begins. Big squash game with Todd at 11:00 pm tomorrow night, and again next week, and a round with Alicia as well.

Curling Bonspiel preparations have begun.

Thinking of running for EngSoc Exec (VP - Education).

24 is awesome.

House is awesome.

IRS is coming up, I may be doing security for that, should be an interesting time.

Midterms are coming up (Already?). Then reading days (the Thu. and Fri. 23/24 of Feb). I have a Turducken party at some point during that weekend, but I have a great desire to go skiing or snowboarding on at least one of those four days (I would go for either, as my mountain skills are next to non-existant.). Start making offers people. =o)

Is anyone in town on Sunday or Sat. night?

Things I know: An ongoing list

If you're going to cancel classes across the board for an event, like an engineering symposium, and require the students go to it, then do not expect them to find time for a make-up lecture at a later date. This applies to reading week as well. You know reading week is going to happen, so build your lecture schedule around it.

Girls in leather jackets are hot.

That's it so far.

Flatline

I hate napping so much. Moreover I feel like it's a huge waste of time. I just blinked off the whole day. I got home from school and had a nap, the sun was shining, the bitter north wind was blowing.

Flash forward. Something about being interviewed in a black suit, and Sam Fisher is in the room.

Flash forward. It's pitch black outside. I have now been unconcious for 3.5 hours. If I had napped any longer a crashcart would have been needed.

Honestly guys, that's half a nights sleep. This is what afternoon coffee is for.

Classic

Jay was on camera duty at BOT on friday, and i've got the hookup with some of the photos, so I thought I'd post at least a couple of the ones that involve me, since I can. =o)

The rest are available Here

This would be Ruth-anne, Todd and Myself. Clearly I am pleased. I have had many beverages at this point.

That would be the three of us again, catching Amy, who is having trouble standing, can't imagine why.

This is myself and Ruth-anne, and I am giving a look that conveys my infinite patience at having a flash go off in my face yet again.

Joy

This is so very true

Pebbles

I've found that I have a strange tendancy in MSN conversations. Some people's minds race faster than they can type, or even speak, and this is how they communicate. Disjointed, unrelated phrases come forth, and if the way of thinking is particularly alien to your own, it makes little sense.

But this isn't what I do, skipping stones across the lake of communication. If a new topic arises before another terminates, I branch it off, and begin interleaving dialogue between the two disparate branches. The people I find I enjoy talking to the most are the ones who can sort out from the context which messages belong to which idealogical branch...

Although I've yet to meet anyone who begins these branches on their own when talking to me. That would be an interesting day.

And that's how we start off a term right.

That didn't take long

My subtle suggestion on Tuesday has apparently exploded into a full-blow plan. The crash course looks like it's going to be on, people's schedules are being re-arranged, epics are in motion...

Tomorrow is BOT, post-that, life becomes a channeling of energy towards specific personal goals. That requires adequate sleep, so goodnight.

Back at wizard school

First day back. Quite a good day in fact. I am firmly in place to actually do really well this term and reclaim lost glory. Despite the horror stories i've heard, Barby seems to be quite the individual I would like. I managed to covertly discuss 241 with him and plant the seeds of a crash course in his mind for when he talks to the chair next week.

The course he teaches looks hard, but at least more interesting than it's predecessors. I hate theory courses that talk about how things theoretically work at a sub-atomic level. This is facinating if you want to do research into the next type of chip, but useless information to me, filled with depths and depths of knowledge I don't need and will never use. Conversely, this course seems to care more about how to use these technologies to make stuff. This is better.

One of my old (and favorite) profs is taking over teaching Realtime OS this week, so that was a pleasant introduction. That course should be a lot of work, but a lot of interesting work.

Post that, I've got most of my project groups figured out. I may or may not be tutoring first years this term (ha!). Bought new running shoes for squash and working out, went to the gym, pulled way too much weight, and my arms feel all rubbery.

Also, made some blue-raspberry martinis. V. good.

If anyone cares, my courses this term are
Probability Theory and Random Processes
Microprocessor Systems and Interfacing
Signals and Systems
Real-Time Operating Systems
Advanced Electric Circuits
All in all, a very productive day. Now my body is revolting, and I must crash.
